Get Money for Your Old Refrigerator

 In Blogs

Thinking of updating your refrigerator? If you are a Seattle City Light customer, you’ve got a few options for lightening the financial burden of your upgrade. If you are ditching a fridge manufactured before 2001 (one that is still in clean and working condition), you can apply for a $30 rebate as well as free haul-away service through Seattle City Light. If you’re shopping for a new model, you can apply for a $50 rebate if you purchase an ENERGY STAR qualified refrigerator and recycle your existing fridge – although free haul-away is not provided as a part of this rebate. Remember, of course, that upgrading to a more efficient model can also save you up to $150 annually on your electricity bill.

For more detailed information on Seattle City Light’s appliance rebates, head over to their website. If your local appliance retailer doesn’t provide haul-away and recycling, you can search for recycling opportunities using the Department of Ecology’s website. Note that the two rebates discussed above cannot be combined.
